September 03, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Violence erupts in Gaza as Israeli troops attack a border post near the town of Beit Hanoun just on the eve of a new round of symbolic talks between Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israelis under US sponsorship in Washington.  

‘Few hours ago, Israeli tanks and bulldozers entered the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun…, where Israeli labuorers were seen fixing the security fence in the so-called buffer zone,’ Iran’s Press TV reported from Gaza. It added, ‘The buffer zone is an area of 300 meters along the Gaza Strip, declared by Israel, to prevent people from reaching there, especially farmers. But basically they are forcing a 1,000-meter no-go zone in that area. All the people were killed there, including civilians, women and children as well as farmers.’ 

While the mainly show-like negotiations went on in Washington, most Palestinian factions rejected the talks as another futile attempt by Washington and Tel Aviv to buy more time when they are actually faced with growing international isolation over the killings of innocent Turkish civilians on board humanitarian flotilla by Israeli troops.  

Israel with helps from the Obama administration has been imposing a total blockade over Gaza Strip for nearly two years under the pretext of combating the Palestinian Hamas movement, which currently controls the strip.
