IAEA Report Confirms Iran's Nuclear Transparency

After seven years of constant inspections, the report once again confirms the non-diversion of Iran's nuclear activities towards military and banned objectives: Soltanieh.

Tehran, September 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Yesterday the Iranian Ambassador to the UN Ali Asghar Soltanieh made comments on IAEA report regarding Iranian nuclear program.

A latest report by International Atomic Energy Agency was released on Monday confirmed Iran’s transparency and compliance with NPT safeguards. ‘After seven years of constant inspections, the report once again confirms the non-diversion of Iran's nuclear activities towards military and banned objectives,’ Soltanieh said.

‘The report reflects achievements made by the Islamic Republic and its mastery of nuclear technology, especially in the field of enrichment, and clearly indicates Iran's commitment to IAEA's Statute and Safeguards Agreement, confirming that all of Iran's nuclear activities are conducted under the Agency's supervision’ he added.

Also a top Russian official blamed Washington for delaying resumption of nuclear talks between Iran and 5+1 group of countries over a nuclear fuel swap deal.

The Russian official speaking on condition of anonymity said Monday there is concern that the US is trying to hinder and slow down the process. He was referring to an agreement signed among Iran, Brazil and Turkey in May where Tehran could agree sending 1200 kg of it low enriched uranium to Turkey in return for 120 kg of higher enriched uranium for a research reactor in Tehran.

United States has rejected any such agreement but unreasonably asks for a total halt to Iran’s already developed nuclear program instead, a demand flatly dismissed by Iran.
