NAM Blasts Amano's Deviation From Standard Norms

The director general has written a blank check for the inspectors by stating he supports them one hundred percent, when in fact what he should say is that he supports them as long as they perform their duties correctly: Soltanieh.

September 16, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - At a UNSC meeting yesterday, both china and Russia urged restart of nuclear talks with Tehran instead of pressing ahead with unilateral sanctions. China’s ambassador stated that punitive measures do not resolve outstanding problems and negotiations must be resumed.

Russia’s ambassador also supported resumption of talks involving the 5+1 and Iran as soon as possible. France and UK, two western supporters of the US position however pressed for self-inflicted sanctions.

In another development the US State Department spokesman Philip Crowley once again defended Israel during the IAEA meeting in Geneva. Without explaining what he meant by what he was saying, the spokesman stated, ‘Israel has fully cooperated with the IAEA’ adding, ‘…we believe there is really no basis for a debate at the IAEA.’

Crowley uttered these words at the time when every person on this planet knows that Israel refuses to join the NPT, allow IAEA inspectors visit its nuclear sites, continues to hide hundreds of illegal nuclear weapons somewhere in its occupied territories and had broken NPT safeguards by exporting nuclear weapons material and technology to former apartheid regime in south Africa. Philip Crowley's support for Israel shows US's disregard for international regulations.

On Tuesday, Egypt,  representing the Non-Aligned Movement member states, called on the IAEA to start an extensive investigation on Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons program. With unremitting support from the US, Israel has so far been able to skip international investigation over its secret nuclear program, which poses direct danger to human existence.

The Non-Aligned Movement NAM, in a strong-wording letter to the IAEA, criticized Yukia Amano’s last report about Iran’s nuclear program. The statement said, ‘NAM notes with concern, the possible implications of the continued departure from standard verification language in the summary of the report of the director general [Yukio Amano].’

The new IAEA chief, has shown himself to be an openly biased technocrat acting on behalf of the Western powers and Zionists, whereas being in that  position, he must simply follow the IAEA rules and regulations without getting involved in unnecessary political maneuverings.

’The director general has written a blank check for the inspectors by stating he supports them one hundred percent, when in fact what he should say is that he supports them as long as they perform their duties correctly,’ Iran representative to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh said in response to Amono’s expression of regrets over Iran’s barring two of the IAEA inspectors from conducting their mission.
