PSUV Party Wins Clear Majority in Venezuelan Congress

The clear majority was expected since Chavez began introducing social reforms including nationalizing of the country’s oil industry almost a year ago.

September 27, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - United Socialist Party of Venezuela has won a landslide victory in the country’s congress winning nearly two-third of the seats out of 165-member Assembly after the latest election.

The clear majority was expected since Chavez began introducing social reforms including nationalizing of the country’s oil industry almost a year ago. This victory would enable Chavez and his party to enact further reforms in the Congress. Also the main opposition party Democratic Unity umbrella group won 52 seats in the election.

The DU umbrella group, opportunistically, specializes on blaming Hugo Chavez for current economic struggle in Venezuela, as it tends to always ignore the root cause of the ongoing global financial-economic troubles in which Venezuela under Hugo Chavez would of course be no exception.

President Chavez, is Latin America’s most vocal critic of the US imperialism in Latin America and around the world. Before Chavez, there were mainly US puppet regimes holding power in one of world’s richest countries in non-renewable energy. Large American, Zionist and European corporations held monopoly over Venezuela’s oil and gas resources for many decades, leaving vast parts of the country underdeveloped and malnourished.

With the ongoing global economic crisis as a result of failed US casino capitalism, Venezuela, like every other country today is also experiencing some economic problems. The Chavez government plans on bringing the situation under its control.
