Israeli Uses Threats To Gain Financial Ends
Tehran, Dec. 09, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Defense Minister General Ahmad Vahidi arrived in Damascus, Syria yesterday evening to hold talks and promote defense cooperation with the Syrian government.
He held meetings with Syrian officials and discussed international and regional developments and ways of promoting bilateral relations. Syria is Iran’s strategic ally in the Middle East and the two countries have extensive cooperation on wide range of issues.
The Defense Minister speaking to reporters today said the Israeli regime is well aware that it doesn’t have the power to pose as a major threat for Iran. Vahidi described the Israeli threats against Iran as a way to appease ‘the Zionist society’ and press for more funds from the budget to serve the military. ‘They are both worried about carrying out a pre-emptive, aggressive first strike and terrified about enduring the repercussions and retaliations of their act,’ he said.
General Vahidi said Iran's response to an aggression from Tel Aviv would include targeting the regime's production sites of ‘chemical, microbiological, dirty and banned nuclear weapons.’
Israel is the only country in the Middle East that possesses weapons of mass destruction including nuclear bombs. However, Western powers seem to turn a blind eye to Tel-Aviv’s growing threat to the region and beyond.
Iran, on the other hand is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and it pursues a domestic nuclear program that is perfectly transparent and peaceful.
