Iranian N. Program Poses No Threat to Other Countries

Bahrani Official Expressed His nation's Support For Iranian N. Program

Jan. 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a meeting with visiting Bahraini counterpart Khalifa al-Dhahrani, yesterday, reassured all regional countries that Iranian nuclear program does not pose any threat against the neighboring countries.

Larijani said Iran’s nuclear program is solely geared towards peaceful objectives, based on preventive and defensive purposes, IRNA reported.

The visiting Bahraini Speaker also reaffirmed his country’s full support for Iranian peaceful nuclear progress and said that enemies will not be able to damage the growing friendly relationship between the two neighboring states. He stressed Iran and Bahrain’s solid relationships continue to grow despite certain enemies’ conspiracies to bring insecurity to the region.

In another development on Iran’s nuclear dossier Iranian MP Hossein Ebrahimi told reporters that Tehran has not yet received any response for its nuclear fuel swap proposal which envisions fuel exchange in any one of the following countries namely: Japan, Brazil, Turkey or the Iranian Persian Gulf Island of Kish, Mehr News Agency Reported.

Ebrahimi reiterated Iran’s decision to go ahead with enrichments at 20 percent purity level, if interested parties fail to respond to Tehran’s generous offer of nuclear fuel exchange by February this year.

Western countries have warned Iran to give a timely response to their own nuclear fuel exchange proposal by setting the year-end deadline, a one that has already passed since Tehran did not hesitate to reject the proposal at the onset. The flawed proposal sought to ship Iran’s domestically manufactured low enriched uranium to other countries for an infinite period and later on perhaps receive higher enriched uranium fuel for use at Tehran’s reactor.

‘Of course, the IAEA has given a positive response to Iran’s request and referred it to the U.S., France and Russia for implementing,’ Ebrahimi told MNA.
