Bombings Killed Over 17 in Baghdad Today

Series of Bombings Follow Execution of  'Chemical Ali'

January 26, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Another set of bombings in central Baghdad business district ‘Karrada’ today killed 17 people and 80 others wounded following massive bombings yesterday.

Three car bombs exploded near a government related building and a forensic office bringing the total number of 56 people killed 56 and over 150 injured in two days of bombings.

Yesterday’s attack occurred on the same the as former Saddam Hussein’s henchman known by his nickname ‘Chemical Ali’ was being executed for his role in massacre of thousands of innocent civilians during Baathists’ despotic reign over Iraq. Some analysts believe Saddam followers from Tikkrit region of Al-Anbar Province may have been behind the latest bombings.

US and coalition forces invaded Iraq in 2003 that toppled Saddam Hussein from power but have so far been unable to bring peace and security to the country.
