Israeli Senior Official Issued Fresh Warnings to Iran

US Missile Interception System Failed Over the Pacific Ocean

February 02, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - An Israeli senior official warned Tehran of severe consequences over its relentless pursuit of a peaceful nuclear program.

The Israeli National Security Advisor Uzi Arad threatened Iran following US announcement to boost military presence around Iran. Arad said Tehran would pay a heavy price for what he termed defying the international community. ‘Israel is being silent, on acting in the Middle East's fighting on terrorism, and therefore events that takes place in the region, are on the hype,’ Arad told a group of audience.

Earlier a US defense official said that the US army in cooperation with Persian Gulf Arab states plans boost defenses against incoming missiles from Iran on targets such as oil installations, refineries and ports.

But despite military preparations close to Iran’s borders, there were reports on the latest failure of a long-range US missile interception test over the Pacific Ocean, yesterday. An interceptor missile launched from the US coast was to hit an incoming missile over the Pacific when radar failure missed the target.

The Pentagon performed the test citing threats from intermediate and short-range missiles by North Korea or Iran on US soil. The report did not mention how medium or short-range missiles launched supposedly from Iran could reach US on opposite side.

Iran posses missiles with range at maximum 2000 km, barely enough to fly out of its own territory let alone posing a threat to the US and claims contrary to this fact should be regarded as only fictitious.

However, North Korea does possess long-range missile that could reach parts of United States. Pyongyang has also twice conducted nuclear test in the last two years and it is now considered a nuclear capable state.
