Toyota Automobiles Facing Yet Another Recall

Following Accelerator Pedal Recalls, This Time Toyota Cars Experience Severe Problems With the Breaking System

February 04, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The world’s largest automobile manufacturer Toyota motors, faced another challenge for fresh recalls on the company’s latest hybrid cars due to severe problems with breaking system on some models.

The news slashed over %6 of Toyota’s shares on major markets around the world and nearly 27 billion euros, which comprises one fifth of the company’s capitalization has been wiped since mid-January. The company already is suffering from a number of recalls from accelerator problems where the pedal could stick to floor causing undue accelerations.

Toyota announced it would fix the breaks for over 8 million vehicles sold in those models. According to Toyota spokesman Mieko Iwasaki, most complaints over breaks come from the US and Japanese dealers. He said, ‘As of the end of last year, we had dozens of complaints from dealers in Japan and North America. What the report suggests is that sometimes the braking system in the Prius can stop working on bumpy and slippery roads. We are currently investigating this problem.’

For years Toyota motors was considered as one of the most reliable car manufacturers as compared to American counterparts. The Japanese car manufacturer’s recent problems have helped boost sales by Honda, Nissan and other major car manufacturers.
