Foreign Ministry Summoned Canada's Charge d'affaires

Ottawa to Provide Explaination for its Former Iran Ambassador's Role With the CIA.

Tehran, February 11, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Canada’s charge d’affaires on Wednesday to explain Ottawa's position with respect to its former ambassador acting as a spy for the United States’ central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

The Foreign Ministry said the former Canadian ambassador to Tehran clearly violated the Vienna convention in regards to his diplomatic mission and Canada government must be held responsible for such blatant violation of the international rules. Canada’s Charge d’affaires promised to notify his government about the issue and give a timely response to Tehran.

Based on hundred pages of documents and the former Canadian ambassador Kenneth Taylor’s own statements, he was actively involved in spying against Iran on behalf of the CIA. Kenneth Taylor used his diplomatic position to relay important information for the CIA that led to a failed military mission by US troops to release 52 former American embassy personnel held in Iran almost thirty years ago.
