Iran Will Not Allow a Few Countries Ruin the World

Iran is the harbinger of peace, brotherhood and dignity amongst the people of the region.

Tehran, February 17, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khmanei on a visit to the city of Tabriz today said, ‘Iran will not allow a few countries ruin the future of the world and will stand up against those powers that seek to dominate the globe.’ Fars News Agency reported from the city of Tabriz.

Ayatollah Khamenei reminded the arrogant powers that Iran is determined to continue with the nuclear program and would not heed to Western pressures. On US Secretary of State’s latest remarks about Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said, ‘ … and once again the Americans dispatched their agent like a traveller to the region (Persian Gulf) to repeat the same lies about Iran.’

The Leader said the US would certainly fail in this campaign as no country in the region would listen to the same old lies and added, ‘countries of the region regard Iran as the harbinger of peace, brotherhood and dignity amongst the people.’

Also in Tehran this morning, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast reiterated Iran's readiness to buy enriched nuclear fuel from abroad and when the deal is made it would stop the 20 percent enrichment process.

US, France and Russia recently sent a letter to the IAEA offering a new proposal indicating, ‘… we recognize the need in Iran for medical radioisotopes. If Iran does not wish to accept the IAEA offer, we note that these are available on the world market and could be obtained as a responsible, timely and cost effective alternative to the IAEA's proposal.’

The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters that the proposal to purchase radioisotope medicines from abroad was a good idea but it certainly doesn’t mean that Iran should stop production of its own radioisotopes.

Iran currently produces all of its needed medical radioisotopes at Tehran’s research reactor but it would soon run out of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel as the main feed stock for the reactor. However, if Iran were to purchase radioisotope medicines from abroad it would mean the reactor in question will be shutdown because of lack of fuel.
