If the western countries seek to deprive Iran of its technical, scientific and industrial rights, the talks will not bear fruits: Iranian official. November 22, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Top Iranian official blames West’s negative policies as the main reason behind the existing lack of confidence notably with respect to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. Iran’s Supreme national Security Council Deputy Secretary Ali Baqeri said western powers have adopted all the wrong policies they could have put their hands on to practically damage relations that could have been based on trust, IRNA reported. According to Baqeri, despite Iran’s steadfast confidence building measures over the years, Western powers managed to adopt all the worst possible policies. The Iranian official made the remarks during a meeting with China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Lee Gu in Tehran on Sunday. ‘The Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted positive steps towards confidence building by removing obstacles to this effect,’ IRNA quoted Baqeri as saying. He added, ‘if the western countries have learnt enough lessons from their previous mistakes, we believe that the next round of talks will be a turning point in resolving the issue.’ China has always been supportive of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program while urging dialogue as the best way to resolve all outstanding issues. Expectedly, Western powers led by the US have somewhat lowered their earlier expectations with respect to Iran’s nuclear program, in recent days. West's severely damaged domestic economy has consumed much of Obama administration's inner energy trying to prevent a looming financial meltdown. Formerly a full-fledged industrial economy, today the US is only a shadow of what it used to be after the end of WWII.
