North Korea Blamed the South for Increasing Tensions | |||

In case of an all out war the North would be able to flatten Seoul with all of its industrial centers included, effectively rendering South Korea’s industrial progress to what it was before the Korean War. November 24, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - An official North Korean military communiqué blamed South Korea for its retaliation. It said South Korean military were told to stay off of the disputed area when South Korean vessels ignored the warning and started shooting in the disputed sea. North Korea’s powerful military in retaliation discharged several dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean military base causing some damage. After the incident, South Korean administration of Lee Myung Bak said Seoul could take enormous retaliation against the North. In reality, North Korea enjoys supreme command of the military arena if ever a devastating war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula. South Korea stands no chance of defeating the North without US help. One of North Korea’s strategic advantages is proximity of South Korean capital city Seoul to its border posts. In case of an all out war the North would be able to flatten Seoul with all of its industrial centers included, effectively rendering South Korea’s industrial progress to what it was before the Korean War. So many military analysts believe this is exactly what the United States plans, that is eliminating a major industrial hub like South Korea to make some room for its own industrial exports. Washington understands quite well that it will not be able to eliminate China’s industrial challenges; therefore it now seeks implementing reachable agendas using South Korea as a scapegoat. Since the end of Korean War, the US has taken advantage of Seoul to keep a steady level of tensions on the Korean Peninsula and justify its presence in the region. A day after the shelling incident, US military dispatched one of its obsolete aircraft carriers named George Washington to the area for joint military exercise, in a rather symbolic gesture of warning to Pyongyang. The carrier has a crew of 6000 and 75 aircrafts. But given North Korea’s possession of Yakhont missile, military analysts recommend the US carriers should stay away from any eventual skirmishes. A US military communiqué also confirmed genuine concerns saying, ‘this exercise is defensive in nature, while planned well before yesterday's unprovoked artillery attack, it demonstrates the strength of the ROK (South Korea)-U.S. alliance and our commitment to regional stability through deterrence,’ Reuters reported.
